Do you want to install VMware on Linux? You no longer have to do it via the command line. VMware has released a Linux “no hassle” user interface installation.
——————————————————————————————————————-
With VMware’s newest release of workstation, they created a bundled graphical-based installer. It makes installing VMware Workstation on Linux a piece of cake. No more command-line installs. This is a great feature.
I also created a visual gallery if you are interested in viewing this information in a different format. Here are the steps. (Note: Click on images below to enlarge.)
Download the Linux.bundle from VMware’s Web site to your tmp directory.
Open up a terminal window and type the following: sudo sh VMware-Workstation-6.5.0-118166.i386.bundle. If you have a previous version, it will be automatically uninstalled (Figure A).

Next, agree to the license, as shown in Figure B.

If you want to install the Virtual Debugger, choose a path and then click Install (Figure C and Figure D).

The Linux installer does the rest and configures Workstation 6.5 (Figure E and Figure F). It is the easiest Linux install for Workstation I have seen. What do you think?

You can now start VMware Workstation from Application | System Tools | VMware Workstation (Figure G) or open up a Terminal window and type /usr/bin/vmware (Figure H).
