A while ago I talked about the pressures torrent tracker Web sites are coming under. In recent times Web sites hosting torrent trackers that enable users to initiate peer to peer (p2p) downloads have been heavily pressed by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA).

Demonoid.com is one of the largest and most popular torrent trackers and was taken down back in September. Unfortunately for their users, it looks like Demonoid have been taken down again. A simple text message on their website reads, ‘The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.’

I wonder whether the site will resume service with servers placed outside of the CRIA’s jurisdiction. How long can torrent trackers and media companies play hide-and-seek?
