IT budgeting 101: Best practices for strategic IT investment

IT spending should be a strategic tool for improving the business, but a lot of IT departments fall into the common trap of being reactionary with their IT spending. I recently did a Webcast called Achieving Business Objectives through Strategic IT Investment where I had a broad discussion with Josh Gingold and Larry Dignan of ZDNet about best practices in IT budgeting and IT investments.

Some of main topics we discussed included:

  • How to use IT investment to save money, maximize performance, and improve customer service
  • What to outsource to partners and when
  • How to manage IT during challenging economic times
  • How to make the pitch to get management sign-off on big projects

The Webcast is now archived and you can view it on-demand.
