Download TechRepublic's 2008 IT Skills and Salary Report

TechRepublic has published jointly with Global Knowledge the 2008 IT Skills and Salary Report. The survey encompasses a total of 7,193 responses from IT folks.

This report is the place to go if you’re looking for information on any of these topics:

  • Job Satisfaction
  • What Concerns Are on the Minds of IT Professionals?
  • Who Is Making the Money?
  • Where Is the Money Being Made?
  • Age vs. Experience
  • Training & Certification
  • Education Pays
  • Highest Paying Certifications
  • Training and Your Employer: Who Pays and Who Benefits?
  • Summary: For the Industry
  • Summary: For IT Pros
  • Summary: For IT Managers

What concerns are on the minds of IT pros?

The survey asked the respondents about what is important to them in considering a new job or staying with their current employer. While there were, naturally, some concerns about the economy, the number one concern was keeping up with skills.

The report acknowledges those concerns and includes research on what counts more: certs or degrees. It also offers a list of 10 certifications that actually mean something.

I think this is what separates this report from others you may come across. Not only does it speak to what you and your peers are thinking, but it addresses the concerns they express with solid research and direction.

For example, are you looking for a change in specializations? The report covers the top-paying roles, industries, and geographical locations.

If you want to see how you compare, or use the information to guide your future career strategies, download the full 2008 IT Skills and Salary Report.
